Marshal
Our
Grand Marshal is a true ”TITAN” when
it comes to education in Orange County and that is President of
California State University Fullerton, Dr. Milton R. Gordon.
Since becoming President in 1990, California State University Fullerton
has experienced tremendous growth and been showered with numerous
awards and accolades. CSUF is now celebrating its’50th Anniversary.

Some noteworthy
CSUF achievements made during Dr. Gordon’s tenure as President
include:
• Highest enrollment of the 23 CSU campuses.
• 2nd
largest university in the state of California.
• 8th
in the nation for the number of bachelor degrees awarded to minority
students and fourth for undergraduate degrees awarded to Hispanics.
Born
in Chicago, Illinois on May 25, 1935 Dr. Gordon earned his B.S.
from Xavier University in Mathematics and secondary education, his
M.A. from the University of Detroit in Mathematics and his Ph.D.
in Math from Illinois Institute of Technology. Prior to coming to
CSUF Dr. Gordon was Vice President for Academic Affairs at Sonoma
State University for four years. For eight years he served as Dean
of the College of Arts and Sciences and Math Professor at Chicago
State University. A pioneer in access to advanced education for
African Americans, Dr. Gordon directed the Afro-American Studies
Program from 1971 to 1977 at Loyola University of Chicago.
Dr.
Gordon's awards include the 1999 Ceasár Chavez Community
Service Award by the Hispanic Bar Association or Orange County;
1998 Manager of the Year Award by the Orange County Chapter of the
Society of Advancement of Management; 1998 Orange County NCAACP
Citizens of Distinction Award; 1994 Tree of Life Award from the
Jewish National Fund; and Honor Milton A. Gordon Day, September
22, 1992, at Chicago State University.
